We know, we know. August is a month to rest, enjoy time off, and disconnect from work.

But when you are responsible for a work team, it is impossible not to have certain thoughts in the back of your head. For example, you might be thinking about how to improve the relationship with all the members of your team.

We will share with you different tools that can help smooth things over, help the shyest ones feel integrated, and strengthen trust among team members.

But first things first… What can we do if there’s an argument?

Conflict resolution – the sooner the better

It is imposible to have little arguments every so often between two or more member of the team.

Sometimes we can think this is a non important problema, but it can be very dangerous. That’s why is so important to solve the problem as soon as possible, so that little missunderstading remains only as a little missunderstanding.

That doesn’t mean that the responsable person of the team has to interfere in each one of all the issues that can come out. That person has to show confidence between them, even if they always have to make sure that the problem is being solved in a professional way. The team leader can also provide some help or give them a hand with conflict resolution strategies to stop those little arguments become bigger ones. This will improve communication and confidence between them and it will benefit to everyone one the same way.

Spend private time with each team member

This isn’t just for situations where you need to solve an attitude issue or a specific problem. We’re talking about taking time for short individual meetings every so often with each member of the team.

And what will that do?

It can be more helpful than you think. First of all, keep in mind that these meetings are meant to show genuine interest in your team members. When you do that in a professional way, you open the door for trust and honest communication.

Don’t judge, and don’t feel attacked. Everyone has their own perspective, and it’s just as fair and valid as yours. That way, when a bigger problem comes up, it will be easier for them to approach you with confidence.

Clear objectives, defined roles

If everyone on the team knows the main goal, they’ll work around it and might even achieve it before the deadline.

Having a clear objective always present gives them a sense of purpose and makes things easier for the team. This also helps avoid confusion that could delay the accomplishment of your main goals.

It’s good to remind everyone now and then. You might think they already know what to do, but there are always things that can be forgotten. We don’t want that to happen, right?

If you’re the team leader, you need to be very organized. It’s your responsibility to supervise and make sure objectives are being pursued.

But don’t micromanage. Your team members need to know what role they play and what their tasks are. Giving them responsibility and the freedom to create—without controlling every little thing—makes them feel valued and integrated. And everything flows more smoothly.

The team leader must help all members understand and achieve the goal.

Use effective communication channels and tools

Not everything needs to be discussed in person. Depending on your team’s size, location, and how often you meet, you can combine different professional platforms to collaborate.

Let’s skip email and video calls—you already know how to use those.

Here are some of CMC’s favorite tools:

Slack – A mix between WhatsApp and a virtual office

It’s perfect for real-time communication without flooding your inbox.

  • Create channels for different projects
  • Share files, links, or ideas easily
  • Send private messages or make video calls

Perfect for quick messages like: “Can you check this?” —without sending an email.

Trello – A digital whiteboard with post-its (but way more organized)

  • Create cards for your ideas
  • Organize them in lists like “Pending,” “In Progress,” and “Done”
  • Assign tasks, deadlines, and attach files

If you like seeing who’s doing what and what’s next, Trello will be your new best friend.

Basecamp – A project toolbox

  • Includes chat, calendar, task lists, file storage, and more
  • Keeps all project info in one place
  • More complete than Trello or Slack, with a different structure

Ideal if you’re handling several projects at once and want to keep them well-organized.
